Question by Ni-K: ankle “popped” and intense pain?
I was sitting crosse-legged on bed and left ankle popped and had intense pain for next few minutes. After pain dulled, I stood and ankle feels stable but 24 hours later is still sore and I’m limping. no swelling or bruising. I haven’t injured it but I’m on my feet from 5am until 11pm daily as a nurse and mom of 3 kids. I have arthritis and hx of knee injuries with surgery. This popping/pain thing happens with my knees but never with ankles before. any ideas?

  1. If the ankle is not swollen, it is probably a ligament that got stretched too much.

Try icing it and do mild stretches. If it pains, stop.

  2. If you are a nurse you know what the answer to this question is. See your doc and get it checked out for safety sake. Better to get it checked early than to risk further damage if something is wrong.

  3. It is arthritis Winter will aggravate this complaint .It is spreading from one joint to other. You should take some medication .I recommend homooeopathy as a better choice..

  4. as a nurse i am sure that you know that anything that pops llike that is a strange happening. I would see if the pain goes away and if not go to the phyican to get treated

  5. I don’t have an answer to your ankle question, but I do have some insights about your daughter’s bipolar condition. Come by my profile and drop by my 360 profile page. If you want to talk more, I’d like to tell you some ideas how she can get her life under control.
