Thumb Joint Replacement – UW Medicine

Advanced arthritis in Linda Holland’s left thumb was a painful disability. UW Medicine hand and microvascular specialist Dr. Thomas Trumble performed surgery, removing arthritic bone where cartilage had worn away, and inserting a biological cartilage graft to cushion the bone-contact point. Holland, now pain-free, calls Trumble a “miracle worker.”
